One of the latest vibrant foodie experiences to open in the heart of the community is the revamped Mount Vernon Marketplace. Sample an array of flavorful experiences from artisan sandwiches, local seafood, crepes, coffee, falafel, and more at purveyors that include Cholitas Tacos, Pinch Dumplings, The Local Oyster, Between 2 Buns, Fishnet, and Cheezy Mike’s. The historic site of the grandiose Belvedere Hotel is home to the Owl Bar, a local landmark since 1903 and known at one time as Baltimore’s most notorious speakeasy. Just steps away is The Brewer’s Art, a brewpub with house-made ales located in an early 20th-century townhouse in Mount Vernon. The best seats here for sipping and socializing are in a quiet corner in the cavernous basement, or at a seat in the window overlooking Charles Street.

The Ivy Hotel, a former mansion-turned luxury hotel on East Biddle Street, is home to Magdalena, a Maryland Bistro that features locally-sourced Chesapeake cuisine infused with European tradition and a Wine Spectator award-winning wine list. Another unique hotel dining experience is Topside, a rooftop restaurant at Hotel Revival that overlooks Mount Vernon. Sip on seasonal craft cocktails and enjoy a seafood-centric menu that is constantly featuring new purveyors and local collaborations – all while enjoying a spectacular view.

Grab a cup of joe at Sophomore Coffee and peruse local art galleries, like the Waller Gallery and Motor House, a nonprofit arts hub. Behind the Motor House is Graffiti Alley where local artists can create murals and new artistic creations. Hot tip - it’s a great spot for selfies.
Another midday stop option is Station North Arts Cafe Gallery, an artsy coffee shop serving breakfast fare, salads, and sandwiches located on W North Ave.

Transport to Venezuela at Alma Cocina Latina on North Charles Street. An exquisite Latin culinary experience with lavish plants and purposeful decor, the restaurant consistently is voted among the best in Baltimore. They are famous for their arepas and an overall spicy, savory menu.
Foraged, on N Charles St, is a new take on farm-to-table. The hyper-seasonal eatery’s menu is comprised of local and seasonal ingredients and changes daily. You may experience dishes ranging from pig parts to mushroom stew, braised lamb neck, and heirloom grains risotto.
Tapas Teatro introduced the tapas concept to Baltimore in 2001 and remains a local leader. The small plates dining concept regularly updates its menu to serve the freshest, seasonal fare along with an extensive wine list and beer selection and of course, Sangria.

Artist & Craftsman Supply is the largest art store in Baltimore with two whole floors dedicated to art and craft supplies – a welcome destination for the many artists who have studios in the community.
